The whole thing is constant, over the top bleakness and the book doesn’t feel like it has any balance to it. In defense, my tbr pile is the size of a garden shed at this point so i'm doing the best i can. The winds of war by herman wouk my rating:
Originally conceived as one volume, wouk decided to break it into two when he realized it took nearly 1000 pages just to get to the attack on pearl harbor.
Published in 1971 and written by herman wouk, it registers 886 pages on my kindle, and considerably more depending on which printed. Detailed plot synopsis reviews of the winds of war. The whole thing is constant, over the top bleakness and the book doesn’t feel like it has any balance to it. The winds of wars covers the period from mid 1939 to just after pearl harbor.
