I opened the novel eagerly and settled in to learn a little more about the period in which the novel was written. I assumed it was about the royal wedding and would center around the royal family. While the subtitle of the gown implies that the book is about a royal wedding, in fact the main plot revolves around two seamstresses who helped create the wedding gown and train for the royal wedding. At its heart, the gown is a charming story, less about the bonds of mat rimony than the necessity of friendship.
