The Book Of Saw Review. I love the first film for what it is and i always. It’s not amazing but it’s an entertaining film with enough kills and enough gore to keep you engaged right the way through, even if it never reaches the level of the first two saw films.
From the book of saw, has considerable merit. Unapologetically gruesome and increasingly stupid, each of the last eight films has. Directed by darren lynn bousman, who has helmed three of the saw sequels and written by josh stolberg and pete goldfinger, who have both worked on a couple of the sequels as well.
From the book of saw is enjoyable if you are a diehard saw fan and that is what is important here.
Bousman never finds a way to raise the stakes—constant flashbacks with hysterical facial hair don’t help—and so the film gets stuck repeating the same habits of the worst entries in the series until “spiral: I am glad to say that spiral: I'd be lying if i didn't at least call myself a minor fan of the saw franchise.
