The series was printed in london by the waverley book company, ltd. Copywrite 1937 an 38 being final but, there are numerous copywrite dates listed as well from 1923 on up to the latter. This can cause confusion because, in britain, waverley published a series of encyclopedias called the book of knowledge (alphabetically arranged encyclopedias) which were edited by a series of different editors including harold fb wheeler (the book of knowledge, circa 1935), sir john hammerton (the book of knowledge, 1955) and gordon stowell (the new book of knowledge, 1959).
