Imagine a cross between cashore's graceling and westerfeld's leviathan. I think the book’s strength lies primarily in worldbuilding, which immediately intrigued me. Her trilogy, the first of which is shadow and bone (2012); It is based on two series of books in the grishaverse created by american author leigh bardugo:
