Richard Ayoade Book Review. The grip of film (2018), by richard ayoade. I bought this book as soon as it came out because i was so excited about it.
Richard ayoade's critical analysis of 'view from the top' (a 2003 romcom starring gwyneth paltrow) is a delight to read. View from the top starring gwyneth paltrow. I didn't get very far with the book before i started to skim for an interesting part.
Touching on everything from the world’s premier journey tribute act, continental philosophy, the subtleties of big hairstyles, and christmas in ipswich, ayoade guides.
In this book ayoade performs a thorough dissection of a bad rom com (the type of unnecessarily detailed analysis they make you do in english literature classes). The book form of richard ayoade is terrible due to the fact that the pedantry can't be lifted by richard's usual deadpan performance. The book has been awarded with booker prize, edgar awards and many others. He’s a tv star (the it crowd, gadget man) film director (the double, submarine) and now he’s written a book in which he interviews himself.
