Phryne Fisher Books Review. The divine and fearless miss phryne fisher returns in her 20th adventure in a vastly entertaining tale of murder, spies, mathematics and music. (i covet phryne's wardrobe with every episode that i watch!)
The plot line is almost a side issue for me with the phryne fisher books. There she gets embroiled not only in the case she’s gone there for, but also in bert and cec’s concern over a girl’s botched abortion, the woes of a young housemaid (dorothy), and the toils of a drug lord. This is, first and foremost, a show about murder mysteries.
Phryne is the formidable lady detective we’ve all come to love and it amazed me how essie davis’ portrayal matched up to phryne in the books.
This is a wonderful entry in the series of phryne (rhymes with brian he) fisher mysteries. Phryne at times is more attuned to the significance of clues than the policemen because she has observed the clothing and jewelry of those around her. Phryne fisher, her sister beth and her faithful maid, dot, decide that luna park is the place for an afternoon of fun. She’s essentially gaslighting jack and all his feelings about her being dead.
