In life of pi, the protagonist pi is confronted with emotional and survival struggles throughout the novel. The beginning of the novel covers pi’s childhood and youth. Pi’s reflection in the water is in fact richard parker (perfect example of representing the id).
Richard parker runs off, and villagers take pi to a hospital.
A young man who survives a disaster at sea is hurtled into an epic journey of adventure and discovery. You feel his joy at the zoo, you feel his shame in pissing, his curiosity regarding god, just his general sweetness. It's a story, as one character puts it, to make you believe in god. Even pi’s name symbolizes how long he will be stranded on the ocean.
