The knight, bedivere thought that would be a waste of the precious sword, so he hid it. His idealism spawns the knights of the round table, but his jealously brings down his reign. Some main characters and events the arthurian legend developed over many centuries, with the result that plot lines, characters and their motives, and incidents can all vary quite considerably from one telling to the next.
