Hell House Book Review. Hell house is the scariest haunted house novel ever written. The focus of the sequel is the investigation behind the deaths that occurred at the end of the first movie, particularly the members of the hell house crew that perished.
Barrett, tanner, and fischer are hired by dying millionaire, william reinhardt deutsch, to investigate. They face off with the ancient demon samiel in a fight for survival, in this grindhouse low budget schlock horror film where sex, drugs and possession are the main course. Rolf rudolph deutsch is going die.
A haunted house that has become a portal to hell.
Matheson incorporated the best parts of his novel into his own screenplay for the film, with each character coming to the table or bed with deep seeded issues, but redeeming qualities. Lionel barrett, a physicist with an interest in parapsychology, his wife edith, and two mediums (florence tanner, a spiritualist and mental medium, and benjamin franklin fischer, a physical medium who had been to the haunted house 30 years earlier.). It’s a haunted house story, set in 1970, but it felt more like 1870. But when deutsch, a wealthy magazine and newpaper publisher, starts thinking seriously about his impending death, he offers to pay a physicist and two mediums, one physical and one mental, $100,000 each to establish the facts.
