On their way to catch the bear they find a number of obstacles (long wavy grass, squelchy mud, dark forest, swirling snow storm and dark gloomy cave) and they can’t “go over it, can’t go under it, oh no! Read we're going on a bear hunt to the children. Then quickly run back, just like in the story.

They slide down a grassy slope, splash through a deep cold river, sludge through thick oozy mud, stumble through a deep dark forest, and walk through a swirling snowstorm. There were green pom poms to make the ‘swishy swishy’ sound of the grass, blue satin material and a water spray for the ‘splash splash’ of the river, and putty for the ‘squelch squelch’ of the mud. ‘bear hunt’ comes with a cd which is read by noni hazelhurst with benita collings, alister smart and george spartels who are from abc4kid’s television show play school. On their journey, the family encounter many different terrains.
